I think I am miscarrying.....
I went for a sono on April 16th and I thought I was 7 1/2 weeks pregnant but my doctor said I was measuring a week behind. He said he saw the heartbeat but we couldn't hear it because it was too early. I went back on Monday (this past monday) and he said he didn't see anything. He sent me to Radiology and did an internal and external and on the external one that sac was empty but the internal showed a yolk sac!!! How did he see a heartbeat and now a yolk sac... doesn't the yolk sac come first? My doctor is shocked that they saw that, but he said it might have stopped growing. He told me to go back on Tuesday to get another sono but in the meanwhile I will probably miscarry. I am bleeding but not heavy. He wants to see if I can pass this on my own, he wants me to wait a week. How long does it take to pass? On the sonograms in one pic it is empty and the next pic it has the yolk sac and something else. How could that be???

I am so sorry you are going through this but I am confused. Did he do an internal sonogram and see the yolk sac this week AND see the heartbeat or just the sac?
I would think the internal sono is more accurate than an external one at this early stage.
How heavy is your bleeding?

He did an internal on Monday and he didn't see anything. He sent me to Radiology and they did both an internal and external. The external one didn't see anything but the internal they saw a yolk sac (they didn't say anything about a heartbeat). On April 16th.... my doctor said he saw a heartbeat but we couldn't hear it. And now they only see a yolk sac.
It is like my period... it is not really heavy but it is there. I am not cramping.

If this is truly a miscarriage, it doesn't necessarily 'pass'. It can also reabsorb, but it takes A LOT of patience. It took me 4 months for my beta to go back to 0 when I decided to let things go naturally.
Anyway  if this is what you think it is...

I think I passed it. I was cramping really bad yesterday and vomiting. My doctor said I probably passed it... I have to go for a sono on tuesday

Thank you all for your support! I went for a sono yesterday and it did confirm that I did have a miscarriage.... BUT my doctor called and said I passed it all. I am so relieved that I don't need a d&c. I have to go back to the doctor next Thursday to get my blood drawn... he said that it can take 3-6 weeks for my levels to go down. I will talk to him and see when I can start trying again. How long did everyone wait? I am not bleeding anymore!

From early losses, I had to wait a month after my levels went to 0.

My doctor said it would take 6 weeks too ... but then it really dragged toward the end. I think it also depends how far along you are at the time of the loss...
eta: I advise against a d&c if you can avoid it.
