Spinoff to Tooth Fairy...did anyone's kid grow a permanent tooth BEHIND the baby tooth and...
if so,what was the outcome?
I discovered DD has this situation going on with a bottom tooth right now (she hasn't lost any yet). I was a bit freaked out and read online that in some of these situations, the baby tooth needs to be pulled--like within two weeks!
My SIL is a dentist and my sister is a hygienist and neither thought it was a cause for concern. SIL even indicated it could take up to a month to fall out. It is loose now, but not very.
Any experience? It doesn't help matters that I have a very weak constitution for these types of things and can barely look at a wiggling tooth.

This happened to two of my DS's teeth and it was no problem. When the baby tooth fell out, the permanent tooth slowly moved into place. DS has had eight permanent teeth since he was six, and so far (knock wood) they look great - nice and straight. So the two that grew in behind the baby teeth didn't have any negative affect on the permanent teeth.

yes! We called DD shark girl for a while 
BIL is a Dentist and he said it was fine and no need to pull the baby teeth. They feel out on their own in a week or two.

My 9 year old has this right now. For the last few years, the dentist just said not to worry about it but at his last appt the dentist (we went to a new one) said it was time for them to come out and they need to be pulled.

This happened to my son too, eventually the baby teeth fell out on their own.

This actually happened to ME when I was young. I had to have several of the baby teeth pulled.

yes. it happened with both DD's lost teeth. Went to the dentist- and she told me it was fine. Both teeth fell out on their own and DD is fine.

When it happened to DD the baby tooth was not falling out so we had to get it pulled. The big tooth pushed its way up on its own.

My son's got in at least 80% of the way before his baby tooth fell out. It was hanging by a thread and he refuse to let us pull it (as he didn't want to part with it). It flip flopped when he spoke - it was so horrible. I hear it happens all the time.

this is going on with DS now. He calls them his 'double tooth'. His 2 adult "k9" were growing in over his baby ones. The dentist told him keep working on them (they were slightly wiggly) and that she isnt worried about them yet. Finally, after months of wiggling, DS bit into an ear of corn last week and 1 of them became extremely loose. He let me pull it out (it was hanging by a thread!) Only 1 more to go, just keep wiggling them!

I didn't know it was this common. I freaked out when I saw an extra tooth behind his baby teeth while brushing. I called his dentist and they said wait for two weeks to see if the baby tooth will fall out on it own but its rock solid as of now! praying it will fall out on its own as I am not looking forward to an extraction

YES, My son has to have FIVE baby teeth pulled next Friday! He has adult teeth that want to come in and are sitting behind the baby teeth crooked. Hes 11 and they should have fallen out already. *sigh*
