Need Stroller rec. for a 7 and 4 year old. Please help!

Hi,

We are going on vacation in July. We had the sit and stand and recently sold it becuase it was more trouble then it was worth (both kids would fight over who stood/who sat). We have a 7 year old and a almost 4 year old.. Can anyone recommend what to do. We are going to Wildwood, NJ and plan on walking the board walk, just don't know since Ava is kidn of big for a stroller but will never make that walking.. Should I get two umbrella strollers or a lightweihgt stroller and an umbrella stroller. Don't know what to do and any help would be appreciated. Also if anyone knows of anyone who is selling their stroller.. TIA, Denise

Unless you have a tiny 7 year old I doubt you'll find a stroller to accommodate her. I have a 7 year old and he would rather die than sit in a stroller. Have you asked her for her opinion on what she wants to do?

my son is 7 and there is NO WAY he would ever sit in a stroller, He would probabaly think its too 'babyish'. MAYBE, he would sit in a wagon, but even that I think *I* would get tired of pulling. At his age, he is perfectly capable of walking.

I think your best bet is to get another sit and stand stroller. Have the kids take turns on who sits and who stands. It's going to be hard to find a stroller that the 7 year old will fit in unless you get a special needs stroller and that's $$$. Our DD is 5 and i bought an umbrella stroller for her when we were walking around the airport and she was definitely too big for it. We ended up dumping it and she just walked. She is only 34lbs.

get one lightweight stroller and let them each use it at different times. I really dont think a 7 yr old needs a stroller ever. take a break if they need to sit down for a few minutes?

How much are you planning on walking and why can't you just keep your expectations low and let them take a lot of breaks? I agree with others that a 7yo should probably not sit in a stroller/be expected to be strolled around like that. The 4 yo is on they tail end of stroller use, but maybe a wagon would work??

was just @ HERSHEY PARK the other day and I sweat I saw a 7+ yr old boy in a stroller. he appeared to have no prob either..

I'd bring an umbrella stroller only, and assume it won't get used too much! It's not like you'll be walking for miles and miles on end without stops along the way.

Hop the tram car if you need to! The boardwalk isn't that bad if you ask me. We go every year. Usually just hit a couple piers each time we go.

My sister is selling her Peg Perego Tender XL double stroller which she only used 2x's just for that purpose. Her daughter was 8 last year & had no problem sitting in it, especially when she would knock out right during dinner in a restaurant on our vacation. Asking $60.

I don't know if this helps, but I have found DS' scooter very good for long walks and it kind of replaced the stroller. He is 6 but when he was 4 we bought him one (the mini) and got rid of stroller. Now that he is 6 he has the maxi scooter. He knows he can ride it and wait for us without going to far. If he is tired he would just stand on it and we pull him. Because it has 3 wheels it is very easy to manage.
