I did corn and baked potatoes last year and only like 2 people ate it lol. Maybe I'll do just like a mixed greens salad also

I think it sounds like a lot of delicious 'main' dishes... maybe a few too many at the expense of some lighter nibbles?

I think some nice grilled veg or a raw crudite is a good way to go. I'd also consider some marinated and sliced portobello mushrooms to have as a light side as well.

I'd probably have some tortilla chips with guac and salsa for people to snack on before supper.. and later when they are finished eating but need something to eat while they drink and talk.

Also - will you have cole slaw with the pulled pork? I think that pairing is a winner.

I would also have some desserts around. Maybe strawberry shortcake or lemon bars or an angel food trifle. If you don't want to cook, I'd just buy a bunch of Italian Ices - they are good and a solid, popular choice for hot summer nights.

so no one wanted the potato salad or the macaroni salad, what about coleslaw? With pulled pork, I would assume that would be popular. And if you are doing kebabs, chicken and steak, why not make some veggie skewers? You can do mushroom, pepper, onion, eggplant, tomato, etc...

you should have a condiment tray for the hamburgers and hotdogs (like cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion, etc).

also, are you doing desserts? i would add a fresh fruit platter and something more decadent.

Good suggestions.

I planned on chips and salsa, and I have a few friends bringing the deserts. Cole slaw is a good idea. I had relish out last year as well and no one ate that either lol. Maybe I will put a tray of sliced tomatoes, onions, pickles and cheese for the burgers. Thats a great idea.

Do you think veggie skewers in addition to the kebabs or instead of? I was gonna make the kebabs with veggies on them but I could do separate ones instead....

Your friends don't like macaroni salad, potato salad, grilled corn, baked potatoes or relish?

Even just bowls of various chips. I often like just snacking on some Doritos, corn chips, pretzels, etc. at a BBQ.

I would do both - some with meat, some without, in case there is anyone who doesn't want to eat meat
