feeling under the weather and working out
I have a cold/sinus infection and I've been trying to push through and keep up at the gym. DH tells me I should rest if I want to get better. Which do you usually do?

Re: feeling under the weather and working out
I've heard that weight training is good for helping the body bounce back from a cold. I wouldn't do any hard core cardio or crazy weights. But I would do a circuit of weights and then walk on the treadmill.

I pretty much work out no matter what. Usually, I just have a cold so that doesn't stop me. Often working out makes me feel better.

I don't work out if I have any sort of fever or if my cold is so bad that I can't breathe normally (or if I can't stop sneezing). I do go a little easier though, perhaps just some brisk walking on a treadmill or a lighter speed on the elliptical.

Re: feeling under the weather and working out
Give your body a fews days it will help kick the sinus infection.
When its a cold or something where I am just not right I try and push through or go a little lighter. Sinus infections ground me. I learned to just take the antibotic and give myself a few days. When I try to keep pushing when I have them it takes longer for me to get better.

I've always been told that if the symptoms are above your neck (your congested, sore throat, maybe nose is stuffy) you can work out but if its below neck, take a rest.

Same! I like to run through minor sicknesses for 2 reasons. 1) I feel like I get better faster and 2) it prepare you for when you have an event you can't miss and are sick. for example, i had a nasty cold for my first half marathon and was able to run and complete it (made my goal) even with the cold. I had a lot of practice running with colds.

Re: feeling under the weather and working out
I still work out if it's a cold/allergies/sinus.... I always feel so much better after and usually my symptoms go away after a really good workout!

Re: feeling under the weather and working out
If I have a fever or extreme exhaustion, I don't work out. Otherwise I usually would.
