Runners and speed work
For those of you who incorporate speed work into your running routine-when you push yourself really hard one daydo your legs feel "heavy" the next day during your run. After pushing beyond my limits yesterday, today my legs felt like lead for at least 2miles. It got better. I couldn't enjoy my run since I kept thinking about the weight of my legs. Has this happened to anyone?

Yes, that definitely happens. I also usually take a day or two off after speed training though, I don't usually run on consecutive days. It would definitely make sense that they feel like lead though.
You pushed through it--good job!

Yes, but you don't have to take the day after a speed workout off...just an easy recovery run It's better to take the day off after a long run or the day before a speed workout (that's why many people do long runs on sundays and speed on tuesdays, so they can take Monday off and kill two birds with one day off)

This exactly. I'm actually having to do my long run tonight since I have plans all weekend. I did speed work on Tuesday night and did not run at all yesterday. Usually I do long run on Friday or Sunday and plan the rest of the week accordingly. But yes, my legs often feel like lead after doing speed work or hills.

Also make sure you are re-fueling after your speed workout.
