is this dumb?
i am making jalapeno popper chicken and black bean and corn salad for dinner.
Can i make a lettuce salad to eat before dinner, or is it dumb?

Definitely not. IMO a regular salad goes with any meal.

I don't see what would make it "dumb" 
A salad can go before any meal really, and it would def. go with the specific foods you listed.
