loestrin- different types?
Can someone explain to me the different types of loestrin? Some have 28 pills, some have 21. Seems like there are 5 different kinds of loestrin.
Loestrin 24 is $50 a month through my insurance and there isn't a generic of that type, which I'm bummed about. Any suggestions of which other type to try that is the same?

Re: loestrin- different types?
Funny you should ask this, I just called my dr. to switch to Lo Loestrin. Literally just hung up the phone. The regular Loestrin 24 is also about 50 bucks a month for me, and apparently doctors don't get sample packs of it anymore - now it's all Lo Loestrin. I was advised that it's just a slightly lower dose of the hormones than regular Loestrin 24.
HTH!

The Lo Loestrin fe 1-10 tablet (??) is $30 a month and there is no generic form.
This is what they have: (generic form below it) Loestrin fe 1.5-.03mg Junel fe 1.5-.03mg $5 a month
Loestrin 1mg-20mcg Junel $5
Loestrin 1mg-20mcg Junel fe 1mg-20mcg $5
Loestrin 21 1.5mg-30 tablet Junel 1.5-30 $5

Re: loestrin- different types?
Ah, if my rationale for switching wasn't making sense... my dr. has a ton of lo loestrin sample packs, so I didn't even look into how much it costs or whether there's a generic, lol. For me, as long as it wasn't a huge adjustment in hormone dose, I was going to switch to save some $.

Oh, I didn't do well on Lo Loestrin....I had break thru bleeding and a lot of side effects, had to go off it asap. Loestrin was better.

Ugh.. I just threw out my savings card for Loestrin 24! (I never needed to use it) I could've mailed it to you.. I came off of it because I got a blood clot. (It was injury induced and I now found out I have a gene mutation, so it wasn't completely from the pill.. just another strike towards getting one apparently)
See if your doctor's office can get you the savings card... They may be able to get them still!
ETA: I just realized pp said you can sign up in their website!
