What can you do if certification has expired?
I graduated with a degree in Elem Ed back in 1996. I got a temporary certification. I extended it, but did not have a teaching position, so the extension expired.
Since so many years have passed, what are my options? Would I need to re take cert tests or even some courses? I left messages with Boces and my old college, but have not heard back.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: What can you do if certification has expired?
Did you teach at all under it? SOunds like you didn't, but if you had 2 years in, it would have turned permanent and then you would have nothing else to do.
now, the certification process has changed and they are called initial and professional where as the old certifications were provisional and permanent.
Not sure what you would need to do.... sorry this was probably not helpful! ;) but just wanted to let you know that if you taught two years under it you would be good to go.

you are allowed (i believe) to file three year-long time extensions to complete the requirements for a permanent certification (video and exams). id call the TEACH system to see what they say though.

Good luck!
