Potty training.......still

Potty training? DS has been pooping on the potty no problem for months. He will go pee pee, if I take him, but he often puts up such a fight. If I don't bring him, he would just pee in his pants and not care if they are wet. DS will be 4 next month. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me at all?

I have no advice. DS showed interest in the potty just before two and we casually started potty training. 6 months ago they made it one of his programs and thought he'd have it mastered in a week. After six moths we are no closer. Nothing is a motivator for him. He doesnt care if he is wet. He doesnt care if he is dirty. Half of the times if I bring him to go he will. The other half he will tantrum and just go in his pull up. He knows what to do and when he has to do it. I feel your pain

Well, DS is going to a new school an they want him to wear a pull up to school. I have been using one since school started at home too. I thought it would be too confusing to be in underwear at home and pull up at school. He is no closer to notifying me than he was a month ago. The only thing that is different is that I don't have to clean up as many accidents. I don't know if this is going backwards or not, so I am looking for some advice from anyone. Do I just use the pull ups until DS doesn't want to use them anymore? Or will there come a time when he will care that he is wet?

my experience with my DS who is ASD.

BOCES started training AJ when he was 3.5 they had him on a very rigid 15 min time schedule. after a week they moved to 20 min, the following week 25, by the 4th week he was scheduled every 30 min.

school had advised me not to worry about it at home until the 4th week and by then their data should make some sense and we should follow it at home.

after the 1st month, he was still all over the place so for another month they continued on a 30 minute schedule. by month 2 we carried it over at home with pull ups, every 30 minutes asking if he has to of (by now we had accurate data) and he was urinating every 45-60 minutes. but we still brought him in every 30 minutes.

by the end of month 3 he was on an every hour schedule (still in pull ups at home and at school. for the start of month 4 we used pull ups on the bus and underwear for the rest of the day while in school. month 5 he was in straight underwear and we had maybe 1-2 accident in a 7 day week.

it took him a full solid year before he was night trained.

i dont know your DS, but with mine it took a full solid 6 months before accidents stopped.

he still doesnt poop in the potty (he is 5) we think its more of a control issue. but thats another story. he did for a while, but he stopped and now that he is old enough to hold it in, he will hold it in until the last minute.

AJ did not care he was wet either. he has night accidents at times still, and wont wake up.

we also noticed since he transitioned from BOCES to mainstream school, he has regressed some, 4 accidents in 2 days, but thats another story.

I've been potty training since he was 22 months old. He is 3 1/2 now. He is in underwaer but still has accidents. I have to stay on top of him and ask every 1 to 2 hours.
Teachers at school too. He will say "go potty" or "poopoy potty" at times now which is a great improvement but everyday is a struggle. I say keep consistent with whatever youe doing. Consistency is the key.
