Having the miscarriage right now- how long does this last?
Warning: there is a lot of TMI in this post:
So I'm new to all this. I dont know what to expect. I started getting bad period-like cramps last night but they went away with Motrin. And then this morning they came back but about 20 times worse. Motrin didn't help... They were getting worse and worse and lasting like 15 seconds and happening every 10 min or so. I had a feeling it was happening. Then all of a sudden I had intense pain so bad- I felt dizzy and nauseous and was screaming in pain. Then when I went to the bathroom there was a huge clot on my pad and a lot of blood. So it started to calm down after about 10 min and I went outside to get fresh air, and I called my doctor. She said it sounds like I'm having the miscarriage and if I felt more comfortable going to the hospital she would call ahead for me. I decided I would try to endure it and pass it at home. I felt another cramp a few min later but not nearly as bad as the last one and I felt blood come out- so I ran back into the bathroom. I sat there on the toilet for a few minand suddenly I felt something fall out of me and heard a plop- it was like a grayish white matter. I actually felt better after but was still bleeding with big clots. Now im just sitting here on the toilet waiting because I heard there could be more tissue.
Could i be done? Is it ever just over in one shot or is that gonna happen again? Will I be ok to go to work tomorrow or should I stay home?
How long does this usually last for? Im sure its different for everyone but I just want to hear what other people experienced. Any advice or input is greatly appreciated.

Re: Having the miscarriage right now- how long does this last?
Mine took about 4 hours or so. I was bleeding, cramping, sitting on the toilet, passing clots. I would get up and lay on the bed and after a few minutes have to go back on the toilet. Then it just stopped. And it was over. That sounds exactly like what's happening to you. I hope it's over soon. I know how hard it can be. If you can, you might want to stay home from work tomorrow. Just to rest. So sorry you're going through this!!!

I'm so sorry you are going through this
Mine lasted for about 4 hours and then happened again the next day.
I bled for a long time but it turns out I never fully miscarried.
I would stay home if you can. With all the blood loss and the emotional part, you will probably feel weak and tired.

The bleeding actually got much lighter and the cramps not as bad. I think I may have passed all of it but will go to the doctor tomorrow just to be sure. The emotions are starting to hit me though- suddenly I just feel really sad :( I think a sick day tomorrow to recover will be a good idea.
Thanks everyone for all your advice!

Re: Having the miscarriage right now- how long does this last?
I had an experience like the other girls.. It was a lot of clots all night long .. I'd go back to bed and every 15 mins it would start all over again At one point I even told my dh I thought I should go to the ER because of all the blood loss. I felt so weak and tired... by the morning, I was pale. By the time I went for a sono around 8:30am .. it was over. The only thing is it took 4 months for my beta to drop to 0.

I think the worst is over for me- it started about 5:30 am with the cramps and it came out around 9. I honestly don't know how some people save it for testing because I couldn't even look at it. I have a weak stomach for these things. The bleeding is much lighter already except when I pee and look in the toilet I see a lot of blood at the bottom. But there isn't a lot on the pad so I guess that's a good thing. I feel really light headed though.

I am so sorry you are going through this ! I miscarried 2 weeks ago at 12 weeks . It took an hr to pass the sac and I believe I passed the placenta a few days later . 2 weeks later I am lighty bleeding . I don't know if that is normal but my doc is treating it like I am post partum and won't see me for 6 weeks so I have no idea if I passed everything.

i am so so very sorry you had to go through this. I hope since this post is a few days old that, physically at least, you are feeling better.

Having the miscarriage right now- how long does this last?
Thanks- I am feeling so much better now- but still getting bad cramps now and then (nothing Motrin can't handle)
My doctor told me to come back in 2-3 weeks to make sure everything is out... I thought there was risk of infection and that seemed like a long time to wait to see the doc, but I guess she knows best. She told me that I should come in if I'm not feeling well but I guess what I feel is pretty average for most women- cramps headaches etc.
My only concern is that the bleeding seems fairly light but when I pee and look in the toilet there seems to be a LOT of blood at the bottom- not to be gross- but hey there's no such thing as tmi in pregnancy right??
Is that normal?
