I was able to...no issues from the c section. my twins were in the nicu at first so I had to pump initially

i had one natural and one c-section - i was able to nurse while i was in recovery - i will say within 30-45 minutes after c-section - i nursed the first born then - but there is about 45 minutes between my twins - the other had to go get checked out because they were technically premies but i nursed the other probably within an 1.5 hour after my c-section
i previously had a natural and nursed with that one - i did not find it any more difficult to nurse after a c-section just had to ask for help getting baby from bassinets

if you had a c section were you able to bfeed?
I had a c-section at 35 weeks 5 days at Winthrop. The babies were 4.5 and 5.5 pounds. I am large breasted and could not breast feed initially plus my girls were in the NICU one for 5 and one for 7 days. I pumped for them while is was in the hospital and then when I left. I picked up one of my girls the day after I left and then the other two days after that. I actually decided to rent a hospital grade pump after using the one in the hospital. Eventually they did both BF but it took a while, they needed to get bigger and I needed to bump up my production. I BF until they were 10 months then they self weaned.
As for the pain meds they alternated between two different types. It really, really helps.

Re: if you had a c section were you able to bfeed?
I had a c-section with my son and breastfed immediately after while I was in recovery. I ended up nuring him successfully for two years! I never took pain meds other then motrin bc I did not want the meds to pass to him and make him too drowsy to nurse. With a twin c-section i will try to breastfeel right away as well. Not sure if I will need the pain meds this time or not

Re: if you had a c section were you able to bfeed?
I was definitely able to breastfeed right afterwards and the pain meds were a non-issue (while my twins never really took to the breast that great, I continue to pump four months later). Also, the best piece of advice I got regarding the pain meds was TAKE THEM! For me my instinct was to be "oh i dont need this, i can power through" but i did that for a few hours and realized it was in everyone's best interest for me to just take them so I could rest up before heading home.

I had a c-section with my DS after complications during a natural delivery and EBFd until 15 months. The twins were a planned section and I informed the nurses of my plan to EBF. They were born and I nursed them for the first time about 8 hours after they were born. Never had any problems with their latch or anything. I do think my experience from DS helped.
