Integrated programs? Seperating Twins...questions!
Does anyone know of any "open" besides Just Kids?
Can anyone give me any insight into my situation.
I have twin DD's. They will be 3 in two weeks.
Chloe has been diagnosed with very mild CP. She has had speech, O/T, P/T and pysch evals. The results of the Speech, O/T and p/t all indicate services ( at least 1.6 SD's in all those areas)...all therapists recomended services.
They all feel Lindenhurst ( our district) will offer a program vs home visits.
Sydney ( her sister) only had a speech eval..scored low ( 1.6 receptive and 1.7 expressive Standard Deviations)...she will likely qualify too for JUST speech.
Question 1- Has anyone ever heard of a placement in a program for "just speech" services? ( I have not)...
Question 2- It is hard unless you have twins to understand how close at this age they are, and to seperate them will confuse them SO SO much, and I feel possibly harm them mentally as they can barely leave the house alone, not to mention every day.
But IDK if I can handle those amount of home visits, plus my son in Kindergarten ( plus he gets outside services as well) , plus the girls in pre school 2 days a week in their current school, plus I am in College F/T!
I know when the CPSE meeting takes place, I will need to make a decision to accept a program or not, so I am trying to get all the info I can to make a decision now.
Question 3- does anyone know if I can even enroll Sydney in a program and pay b/c of speech? She will if she qualifies also be labeled a preschooler with a disability, so she cannot get into a typical program in an integrated program right??
I am so confused!
If anyone has any insight or info..THANK YOU!!!

I am not familiar with programs in your area as i'm in Setauket but I know the school DD went too offered and integrated pre-k as well as typical pre-k classes. Check if your schools do that as well and then maybe you can enroll them in the same school at least. I think this sort of answered question 3 too. Your DD can definitely get into an integrated program. She would just get speech services on top of that.

Re: Integrated programs? Seperating Twins...questions!
A friend of mine has a similar situation. She has twin boys- 1 with mild CP and the other with no services. Her kids go to Leeway in Sayville for the half day integrated program. Both of the boys are in the same class and she pays for the 1 who doesn't receive services. I am sure that your daughter that needs speech could receive it at the program you choose. Maybe both of your girls could get a therapy at the end of the day so its just a later pick up for you on the days your daughter gets speech. I believe that once they are 3 and in the preschool program you don't get home visits anymore- you have to go to an agency. I think it would be easier to take them out of there current school and put them both into one of the programs.
Just Kids has an integrated pay program and I am pretty sure that Building Blocks in Commack does too.
