Stupid slow cooker question
If I set it at 7:30am and it's done cooking by 1:30, is it bad that it stays on warm until 6:00pm when I get home?

Re: Stupid slow cooker question
Not at all .... I usually set mine around 430-5 am and don't eat it until 6pm and everything is always fine

Re: Stupid slow cooker question
I think it would be fine, but is there a way to extend the cooking time by lowering the cook temp? I know a lot of slow cooker recipes will say something like "cook 4 hours on high or 7-8 hours on low" -- so if you are cooking on high, maybe that's an option?

I read somewhere that you shouldn't leave it on the warm setting for more than 2 hours because of bacteria. This really depends on the temp of the food in your slow cooker. Between 40-140 is the food danger zone.

I'm cooking on low but this recipe only calls for 6 hours tops on low which would make it done by 1:00. We don't get home from work until 6-6:30 and we are out of the house by 7:00 every morning :/

Re: Stupid slow cooker question
I believe mine only stays warm for 4 hours then turns off. I left a pork roast in once on warm for a few hours and it got really dry. So normally i don't set it for the weekdays unless it takes 8 hours to cook. I make shorter cooking means on the weekends.

Re: Stupid slow cooker question
I wouldn't. That's a lot of hours to keep it on warm. It could dry out a LOT!
