I've made pecan pie for thanksgiving every year for the past 4 years and multiple times each year. I even made one in Wednesday night for Thursday and it came out perfect. I followed the exact same recipe for a dinner I'm going to tonight and it came out so different! The batter looked more like cake batter than the usual pecan pie batter. I don't get it! I didn't miss a step or measure an ingredient wrong. The only thing I can think of is that I mixed the ingredients too much.

Has this happened to anyone else where a dish you've made plenty of times without fail suddenly fails?

Now I have to run to the store for more ingredients because I need to make a new one! It's my grandmothers favorite and she didn't get to have any on Thursday.
