Pregnancy after miscarriage

Hi all!

I had a miscarriage in October. It was natural, but I bled for weeks. My husband and I decided we wouldn't try, but we wouldn't not try either.

On Christmas morning, I got a positive pregnancy test. I called my doctor, who suggested I get blood work done to make sure my progesterone levels are high enough (they were low when I miscarried). I got the test done today, but won't get the results back until Wens when the doctor reopens.

I guess I'm just feeling very ambivalent about this pregnancy. My daughter was a surprise (I was on the pill) so the miscarriage was the first time we tried. I guess I am afraid to get too attached or excited about this pregnancy in case it fails too. To add to this, I have an amazing job interview on 2 weeks. If I progress, the next interview would take place in April/May, when I'd probably be showing, so I'm worried about that as well.

How do you handle a pregnancy after miscarrying?

Re: Pregnancy after miscarriage

I totally understand not getting attached...I had an ectopic in August and we tried again and got pregnant in November...I'm almost 12 weeks and I am still afraid to get too attached...I have had tons of bloodwork and sonos, but I am still afraid of the "what ifs"...I'm not sure I will ever relax again during pregnancy, so I don't have any goof advice, but i totally get how you are feeling. Good luck!

Pregnancy after miscarriage

I had a missed miscarriage Sept. 2011. TOTAL shock. Never crossed my mind that a miscarriage was possible then BAM it happened. Took me a while to get over it and convince my SO to try again. It took us nearly 8mnths to get pregnant again (a week after I turned 40). It like walking on glass, Im nervous till Im distracted with something else in my life then I get nervous again. Its always on my mind and I dont feel pregnant at all which makes it worse (15w pregnant as of today). I have 2 other children and try to think back how I felt at each stage..cant remember sh!t..lol but that could also mean I had an uneventful pregnancy. I have calmed down some b/c I have NO control over what happens, I cant change fate and it is what it is. I just try to take care of myself, rest, exercise, eat sensibly (LOL) take my prenates and relax...but the worry is still there...I think its natural. I look forward to EVERY appointment so Im re-assured.
Good Luck to you, Im sure you will be fine and try try to enjoy.
