Can someone explain Beyblades to me?

My son has been asking of them, so I thought I would put them in his easter basket but there are hundreds of them, I don't even know what kind to get. Are there starter ones, ones better than others? Are they all virtually the same? HELP!

If he doesn't have any, then he will like any of the ones you get. I don't really think there are "starters," if I were you I'd get a 2-pack or sometimes they have a 3-pack which are cost effective (they are about $8 each but sometimes a 3-pack is $20). The key is to get the arena - this big plastic thing (usually sold on shelves with the beyblades) so that he doesn't spin them on your floors (the arena is like, $10). My son is obsessed, I never understood it and still don't. Also, don't get the Beywheels, those are different and not as much fun (in my son's opinion!)

I have two sons who are obsessed with Beyblades, and I agree with a pp that BeyWheelz are not as good. I'd get a 3 pack of them to start with. My son loves the tornado variety. And no, I have no idea what the difference between each little one is, lol. All I know is they "battle" with them during recess and he likes the tornado because he always wins with it.
