Re: wraps for lunch

I would be careful about getting a wrap from a store or deli or restaurant. I think it can be a lot more calorie-laden than you think... the wrap alone can be a ton of calories (more than regular bread, in some cases). And some wraps are really stuffed full, even if there are healthy items. Veggies that are grilled or roasted probably have a lot of oil, and there may be dressings and sauces that up the calorie count.

It's harder to control the ingredients in a wrap, because most of the gourmet delis and places I used to go to get wraps have them premade. If you find a place that makes wraps to order, then at least you can control what you are getting.

I always liked a caprese wrap -- grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil, drizzled with a little balsamic. Yum! Or lean steak or roast beef with arugula, tomato and horseradish sauce. I also like putting salads in wraps, like at Chop'd (salad chain in the city).

I make a lot of my own wraps now. I buy the WW wraps (which are 2 points) or some other whole grain wrap, and then add my own ingredients. Today, I am going to use a wedge of laughing cow cheese and use leftover London broil, lettuce and tomato, and maybe a little vinegar and oil. But I've even made peanut butter and banana wraps on the whole wheat wraps. They are really satisfying.

Grilled chicken ceasar wrap. It's basically chicken, lettuce & tomato & I ask for low fat dressing.
