Doctor that treats autoimmune issues
My mom has some kind of autoimmune issue, lots of pain. She was seeing her GP and also treating holistic, but never given a definitive diagnosis. She says it is autoimmune and they are not sure. Does anyone know what kind of doctor is best for this and can they recommend someone on the island?

rheumatologist. i just started see gary meredith through prohealth, and so far i am happy with him. he has offices in bethpage and lake success.

It depends what type of pain she is having...
A Rheumatologist would be of help if it's joint pain (IE: Lupus). If it's more of a nerve type of pain, then I would seek out a Neurologist (IE: MS). If she is looking for a Neurologist, I would highly recommend Dr. Chao - he has an office is Massapequa and Mineola.
