getting worried about my health & TTC (re: autoimmune issues)
does anyone else have immunology issues? i.e. rheumatoid arthritis etc... I had extensive bloodwork done a few months ago w/ a rheumatologist, and I just showed my bff who's a nurse the results yesterday, she was saying that some of the abnormal results in my tests can cause infertility (I was very very low with vitamin D, calcium, very high CK #), I have raynauds (which is a numbness issue w/ my hands & feet) and I'm ANA positive (anti-nuclear antibodies), which I think just means that I'm susceptible to autoimmune diseases (i.e. they've tested me for lupus, twice and both times negative thank god). It's just starting to make me wonder if any of these issues could be hindering my TTC efforts....I've never mentioned this stuff to my ob/gyn b/c I never thought of this as something that could interfere with TTC but now it's making me nervous! Wondering if anyone has experience with autoimmune issues and TTC (and hopefully has success stories of becoming pregnant....although at least I know I CAN become pregnant, but since I miscarried I hope that doesn't mean my body is preventing me from maintaining a successful pregnancy). Sorry I just needed to vent...my bff thinks I should just schedule an appointment w/ an RE doc to be safe and bring my bloodwork results w/ me.

No experience with this, but i would suggest calling your ob/gyn or scheduling a consult to chat about it - get feedback from them and then see an RE if they deem it necessary.

yea I'm trying that new ob/gyn on March 5th (which might be the week I O if no bfp this cycle, not sure if that's a good or a bad thing lol)....it's a large practice and they have an RE there (although it's a dude and I'd prefer to see a female doc), but I suppose I'll see what Dr. Altmann says when I meet w/ her....here's their list of docs:

You should definitely be monitored by an RE. Dr.Braverman specializes in these types of issues. I had low vitamin D and ANA, as well as mannnnnny other autoimmune issues. As long as you are monitored and treating the issues, there's no reason why you can't hold a pregnancy. The only reason I need a surrogate is because of my lining issues as a result of the d&c from my triplets.

Re: getting worried about my health & TTC (re: autoimmune issues)
i have autoimmune hypothyroidism (hashimotos) and AICU autoimmune chronic utercaria (aka hives for no good reason except that my body hates me).
my family is RIDDLED with AI diseases. If its AI, someone in my family has it.
we had no problems conceiving DS, first month trying, BAM we were pregnant.
I am on month 3 now (really 2 because month one could hardly be counted as "trying" since I think we BD'd once around O time.
i have heard that AI diseases can play a role in fertility so if you are having issues, I would see an RE. Get your thyroid checked out since this is probably the number one AI for impacting fertility

so sorry to hear that! But thank you for your input.....the vitamin D I started taking is 2,000 units, what did your doctor recommend to take? Not sure if I should just take 1 per day or more....it's kind of annoying the rheumatologist didn't give me more feedback, but I also blame myself for not asking enough questions....for now I'll try not to think too negatively about it, I'm just freaking out b/c I'm in the 2ww and thinking "what IF I'm pregnant now and I DO need to worry about autoimmune issues???" it was such an afterthought and I guess I'm getting myself worked up b/c my bff was talking about all this medical mumbo jumbo w/ me yesterday it was way over my head lol thanks again, I need to get myself on a game plan to fix these issues so I just don't stress about it!

thanks for your input!!! Yea that's what my friend was saying she's concerned about my thyroid...I'll definitely bring all my bloodwork w/ me to my check up and see what she thinks I should do next. So if I'm ANA+ would that mean someone in my family would have to be ANA+ too? Or basically any AI issue is hereditary I'm assuming? I'm trying to avoid googling about this stuff b/c then I'll be convinced I have lupus or something (webmd is a scary scary place sometimes! And it's encouraging to know that you had a successful pregnancy w/ hashimotos, my bff's sister in law has it and has already been told she's infertile b/c of it! She just got married 6 months ago so I will be sure to tell her that she still has hope! thanks again and I hope you and I both can celebrate bfp's soon despite our AI issues!!

my twin sister (identical) also has hashimotos (obviously ... indentical ) and she will be giving birth to her 2nd on Tuesday! She has had NO problems. We both had very normal, uncomplicated pregnancies even with AI's, clotting issues, MTHFR and a few other "things".. there is HOPE!
