Problem with stitches...

I recently had an appendectomy and my scar is healing, but one end is having trouble. It seems that there is something sticking out of the incision. I think it could be the end of an internal stitch. Is this possible? What can I do to get rid of it because it's stalling the healing of the wound. My doc isn't in till next week due to the holiday and it's annoying the crap outta me

This is a wild guess, but did your doctor use dissolvable staples inside? I had that same issue with my c/s and the healing process. My OB looked at it and said a staples was coming through but was not an issue. He used forceps to take it out! Didn't even feel a thing (it was already soft and half dissolved).

It probably is an internal stitch.
I had this happen when I had surgery.
It actually fell out on it's own.


Even though the Dr. is out, is there a nurse you can call? That's what I did, I just wanted to make sure it was ok that this was happening, and she said it was normal, but that she could cut it if I wanted. It wasn't really bothering me though, b/c it came out at an angle and was pretty much laying flat.
