Weight Watchers Question

Started WW again, so happy that I am on it, eating healthy once again...I haven't been walking because recently I had a severe fracture in my back, but I need to start walking again...How much walking should I be doing?
Another question is can I drink crystal lite, there ice teas, and lemonade, including my water intake? The leader said yes.....
This is my 2nd week and I lost 1.6 lbs, my first week I lost 5.8lbs, Is this a normal wt. loss....only 1.6lbs?? TIA...Chat Icon

Re: Weight Watchers Question

I think 1-2 lbs per week is what you can expect. Some weeks less, some more. The first week or two is always the biggest loss from what I've seen.

What I like about WW is that you can eat and drink whatever you want. I tried to follow their healthy guidelines and be balanced.

Obviously being more active will help contribute to weight loss and having a healthier lifestyle overall. But you have to do what you are comfortable with. There are no hard and fast rules.

1.6 is a good loss! I'm lucky if some weeks I get that. I usually get fractions of pounds lost, even when I am sticking to my DP's only. It happens but totally normal.

Being active helps but I've heard people that have lost with just diet alone.

Re: Weight Watchers Question

I agree that 1.6 lbs is a good weight loss for one week - esp. week two! You do get a bigger loss the first week, but after that it varies (and I tend to have a smaller loss after a bigger loss). .5 to 2 lbs is the WW recommended weight loss per week... slow and steady is a healthy and more sustainable way to do it.

I would also agree that food is the biggest component. I have lost weight (30-40 lbs) on WW at various times in my life and 2 out of the 3 times it was purely done by altering my food intake. The second time I did it, I was doing moderate exercise a few times a week (Stroller Strides, an elliptical), but nothing crazy. Exercise can help speed weight loss and is great to help with maintenance, but I would always advocate mastering the food aspect and then incorporating more activity as you go.

You can count anything toward your liquid intake (except alcohol). But as my leader puts it, would your liver and pancreas rather be showered with water or diet coke? I definitely drink other drinks throughout the day, but I try to get in some water (I like it with fruit sliced in it - like lemons, oranges, berries), seltzer or unsweetened tea for some "purer" liquids than always counting caffeinated drinks or those with artificial sweeteners. But I also try to be realistic about WW, and I am simply not going to drink plain water all day every day!

Congratulations on having such a successful start to the program!

1.6 is great!! i drink water throughout the day and use those small individual crystal light packs for water bottles. i just tip a tiny bit in though and find it flavors my water enough that i'll keep drinking it.
WW is awesome..such a smart "diet" you can really have flexibility and not have to cut out whole food groups. i try hard to really follow during the week and allow myself room and flext points on the weekends and it works great! i never feel deprived then.
good luck! you're doing great!

Weight Watchers Question

Thats very normal!! Most people have a huge loss the first week. After that, it usually tapers off a bit. You'll see anywhere from half a pound to two pounds a week, following the plan.

As far as walking...any movement is good. Do what you can without hurting yourself. That reminds me- I need to start moving again too!

Are you on FB? If you FM me your FB name I can add you to our WW support group.

GOOD LUCK!!!
