Anyone had testing done with Kofinas here?

I am thinking about going for recurrent loss testing with him. Anyone know the steps?

I did. Lots of bloodwork, literally 40 vials at Quest, but it was not a complicated process.

PM me if you have any questions, or I can you my cell if you want to chat.

if you are going to see him youre better off starting with dr B since you are still TTC and neither of them take insurance except OON

I paid nothing OOP to see Kofinas. I think he just takes whatever my out of network benefits are. I pay big time to see Braverman.

Once you get your test results back, def consult with Dr.Kofinas to make a plan for after you become pregnant. He's amazing. I never imagined making it to 36wks and I'm still going!

Once all of your bloodwork and stuff is done...definitely go over it with your RE. I'm not sure what your high risk factors were last pregnancy, but a consult with Dr Kofinas wouldn't hurt. He will probably discuss your history and go over a "plan" for once you become pregnant.

Were you told by your previous RE the reason why they aren't sticking? Do you have issues with your lining?

Hey T! Hope you are feeling well!
I am undergoing the loss testing now. No one can tell me what's going on. When I met with her last week Sung wanted to go straight to IVF and I stopped her bc no one is addressing why these babies aren't sticking and God forbid there's an immune issue or lining problem then my IVF will fail. She agreed and wanted testing- a reason why I'm leaving her bc I am always the one making the decisions. She then realized that its 4 documented losses in a row and I thought it was 3. So something is up. My lining panned out on a water sonogram but the last time I had it done with her, she did it and was rushing out and I asked her if everything was okay and if I have any polyps and fibroids and her response was 'not too much' and I was like whaaa?? When I asked her at my consult she just kept saying everything was perfect so part of me thinks she has no idea what's going on lol. I'm repeating it with the new RE and am requesting a hysteroscopy bc I have a history of uterine scarring and adhesions. A year later and she never checked me for that. As for my pregnancy, I had multiple issues such as IUGR, preeclampsia, recurrent yeast infections. My BP was so bad at delivery that they kept me a week. No one could explain why I had these issues so my general Dr thinks it was an autoimmune issue or maybe my celiacs bc I was just diagnosed. In any case, I have to see a high risk for my next unfortunately as per my new Dr unless they figure out what's going on with my body! Such a puzzle!

So penny, he is an OB? Or does he work with an OB? Do I see him in conjunction with another Dr?

He's a perinatologist who works with OBs (he will tell you which ones he works with .. there are only like 3 Chat Icon ). He basically calls all the shots though and all the OB is really used for is the delivery!

eta: I saw Dr.Kofinas every 1-2 weeks (depending on what was gong on, how far I was, etc) the entire pregnancy and saw my OB every 4 weeks until closer to the end. Now I see both doctors weekly. It's a lot - but I love how carefully I get monitored and hey- 37wks and going strong! Chat Icon Chat Icon
