Rewarding yourself ?

How do you reward yourself when you reach a goal in fitness or weight loss? Do you buy something special and use it as an incentive? Is it dessert maybe?

I'm trying to think of a way to treat myself and keep my eyes on the prize. Chat Icon

Re: Rewarding yourself ?

I'm not trying to lose weight, but over the past couple months I've committed to fitness and have been working out regularly.

This is going to sound really cheesy but it's what I've been doing to reward myself: I brainstormed any new things I wanted to buy myself over the next several months: from little things like makeup, to tops, jeans, all the way to nice new boots (I'm not into designer stuff, so none of these items are really serious money). I listed each item, and how many workouts it would "cost" to buy that item.

So far I got two new tops and a lip gloss Chat Icon

Re: Rewarding yourself ?

When I was losing a lot, I bought myself something every 10 pounds. But the catch was it had to do with fitness. So that included new sneakers, exercise clothes, heart rate monitor, music to run to, earbuds, etc

That's another good idea. Im not crazy about working out so that could be a motivator.

I think the 10lbs rewards are good too.

The 10 pound mark was kind of fun, and something to look forward to. I'd plan my "reward" and then that week I'd have hubby take progress photos of me. I have them going all the way back to my heaviest, so I'd put them side by side and see what's changed.

Plus, for most people, 10 pounds is close to one size lost. So there could be shopping involved or a trip to the tailor to get clothes taken in. For me, one size is like 20 pounds though.
