Lace to the Top
Just wanted to let you all know that there's a group called Lace to the Top on FB. Their goal is simply to bring awareness to the common core high stakes testing that is being implemented in NYS right now and all over the country, and encouraging the state to either stop it, fix it, Or scrap it. A lot of school districts are on board with this. Dr. Rella, Superintendent of Comsewogue schools is even wearing his green laces all year long. Just wanted to make you aware of it since many of you have children who take these tests in grades 3-8 and with 70% failing this year and being sent the message that they're not "college ready" at 8 years old is just beyond me. There is also a great Facebook group Opt Out Long Island that has great information about common core and the issues surrounding it. The owner of the page is looking for representatives from each district on LI to help disseminate The information.

Opt Out Long Island has been giving incorrect info, at least regarding the district i teach in. Take what you read there with a grain of salt.
