Resume cards
Anyone really use them? They are business cards with your resume info on them. And if not, do you give someone a regular resume even when you're not at a networking event?

Re: Resume cards
I've actually never heard of them.
As an aside, with the resume, you have to be sure it's appropriate and they actually have the ability to pass it on to someone.
What I mean by that, I have started to work at a very desirable place earlier this spring and with some people, I feel like they think I have special strings I could pull for them and they are constantly checking in to see about a job. I have at least 4 resumes right now that I have not passed on to anyone, but just took them to be nice about it.
I only work for one very tiny department there and all I can really do is add their email (NOT resume) to a server where I am "recommending them" to the whole hospital system. (None of the people/jobs would really even be in my department).
I know it sounds mean, but after awhile it can get annoying being on the receiving end of this. I have a guy who calls me sometimes twice a week and I'm like really?
Best of luck with your job search though.

Resume cards
Thank you so much for this reply! I was beginning to think I was the only person who felt it was a bit "wrong" to just force a resume onto someone. It just seems so pushy and arrogant...
Thanks again!

Re: Resume cards
No problem.
As an aside, I think it's kind of a waste of $$$ because these days, a lot of people end up tailoring their resume to specific positions, anyway.
I also think it's always more appropriate to just generally let people know you are looking and if they have any suggestions........at that point the ball is more in their court if they would actually like to try to help out personally.
I am one of these people who IS willing to help out, but I don't like the feeling of being used now for my job.
