Second Consult?
Hey ladies, you would know better than I do. I need your help in determining if I should go for a second opinion.
I had my second visit with my RE, he said taking into account all factors against me, Low AMH, FSH level being high and the age factor. I should use a donor egg, or we can try to use my eggs which may not work because of their bad quality. We can test them before putting them in. He said I'm more likely to carry to term using a donor egg. WWYD?
I'm torn wwyd?

Re: Second Consult?
How is your insurance coverage? If you have insurance that pays for IVF I would definitely try a cycle before jumping into de. I would even try an iui with injectables just to see how you respond. I would consult with different REs that have experience with DOR. Good luck! I know it's not easy to hear but I would give your own eggs a shot:)

Re: Second Consult?
I have been with RS, Gold Coast and spoke to SIRM and neither are jumping to donor eggs without trying IVF first and seeing how my eggs respond. By any chance, are you with Brenner? Donor eggs could def give you a more successful cycle but it's a bit extreme IMO. I would def get a second opinion. It can't hurt, right?

Re: Second Consult?
I would get a second opinion with someone who works with DOR regularly (this will likely require you seeing someone off LI). I will say what I say to all of my fellow AMA/DOR ladies: if you can swing it, at least consult with Dr. Owen Davis at Cornell; he is the AMA/DOR guru.
When I did my 2nd cycle (first was cancelled), my AMH was .76 and I had an elevated FSH. My DD is the result of that.
I'd run from any RE who automatically pushes DE. Much luck and feel free to FM me

Re: Second Consult?
unfortunately my insurance will not cover anything since my FSH level is over 19. I pay out of pocket.
I'm doing my research to get a second opinion.

Second Consult?
I stayed away from LI IVF because they are a huge proponent of donor eggs at my age, and I wasn't ready to go there. I am glad my RE agreed with me. This pregnancy we transferred three embryos one AA one AC and a BC. So egg quality isn't my issue.

FSH fluctuates! That level is not set in stone. As my RE said to me- do not pay attention to the numbers. Pay attention to how you respond to stims. Girls with DOR can have one cycle with everything high and another with everything lower. Acu really helped this for me.

Im in same boat due to one pvary- my age, my low AMH and fluctuating FSH. no donor eggs were mentioned- not by my prev doctor nor my new RE. Im sticking to trying my eggs first, taking supplements to boost egg quality etc. im trying mine first beforeI move to that route.

Re: Second Consult?
I would try with your own eggs first. It only takes 1 good one. If it doesn't work, then you can think of DE. I would t jump right to DE. There isn't really a time restriction in that where as trying on your own is.
If your RE refuses to try your own first, then I suggest going to another RE for consult
