Choosing a RE? Choosing a genetic counselor?
As much as I didn't want to, I finally decided I should see a RE and also want to meet with a genetic counselor. Where do I begin? My insurance does not cover IF. Is recurrent miscarriage coded differently?
I am very intimidated by this process and don't know how to get started. If my insurance doesnt cover IF, what are the main differences between practices that I should be looking for? Also, my OB said he will run some testing for me, so hopefully that should be covered by insurance

Edit: I am located in south nassau and work in the city so I would prefer one of those locations. I also work full time and am really intimidated by fitting in appts :(

I would consider SIRM since they do look at all things even immune issues. They are in the city which would be convenient for appts. I did not use them but I have heard nothing but great things.

Most insurances say they don't cover IF treatment, HOWEVER, when they do testing, they put it under the diagnosis codes (typically) of what they are ruling out (underlying conditions) not just some general IF code. What they really mean is they don't cover things like IUIs (though sometimes they do) and IVF. I would look into LI/IVF, Dr. Brenner (that's who I plan on seeing if things don't pan out by January - I'm giving myself one more month).

You know I agree with this!!! Call the Lake Sucess office and ask to speak with sueanne. she can tell you about the billing..but I think recurrent is different and perhaps covered. GoodLuck!!!!!

I'd consider RMA NY. They have a location in Manhattan, as well as an office in Garden City. You can use both locations for monitoring, depending on whether you're working or it's a weekend.

I think I had to wait about 2 weeks for my initial appt at RMA.

I went to Columbia in the city.
When I was looking I tried a Dr on LI but since I spend 5 days a week in the city at work I thought it might be easier to do the appts in the city.
I was right. All monitoring etc were early and all I needed to do was take one train earlier and I was always at work on time.
