I USE bleach, don't get me wrong. Just never in the wash. Chat Icon But I want to bleach our sheets and duvet. How do I do it? The purpose is to whiten so any suggestions are welcome.

I have had better luck whitening with OxiClean than I have had with bleach. I put the powder in, let the water fill up, mix it up a bit, and then add the wash. If necessary, I let the laundry sit in that water for about 10 minutes before letting the cycle go through. Whites come out great!

I'm a big fan (and recent convert) to OxyClean too! I'd definitely give that a try

Not all whites can be bleached.
Test a corner with a drop of bleach to see what happens.
I also like a good soak in OxyClean.

Try white vinegar as well - that will help too most likely. Sometimes regular detergent does the trick. I would avoid bleaching if you can.

Thanks ladies!
I really don't have much control of the machines (it's an apt complex) so I wouldn't be able to soak with oxiclean. Think it will still work?

I live in a complex too. I put Oxyclean in the machine, but I have better luck soaking at home first--in the bathtub if it is a large item, and then squeeze as much water out as possible & transport to the laundry in a trash bag.

I have done this with a white table cloth & it worked wonders. I am afraid of real bleach because I always get it on my clothes & if I am going out to the laundry room & am not usually wearing my cleaning clothes which I wear when I bleach the caulking in the bathtub.

Good point. How long do you soak it for? For me, I'm thinking a duvet cover that is just not sparkly anymore.
