(DVR Virgin in need of HELP) New to DVR...what's that trick...
where you start taping a show then watch it 15 minutes into it's run therefore fast-forwarding through commercials?? How does that work exactly? I am a DVR virgin and completely technologically spastic! Thanks!

Re: New to DVR...what's that trick...
OK..so...walk me though this because, like I said, I am a spaz!
Show is from 1:00- 2:00
1:00...show starts. Start taping show.
Then at 1:30, start watching show. Do I STOP taping? Can I watch a show while it's still being taped?
Sorry for the stupidity!

yes, you can watch it while it's taping. Press teh DVR button, and it will pull up a menu of recordings. Press play. Viola!

you can start watching, but keep in mind that if the show ends (ie. it's 2pm) before you are up to that spot, it will go to "live" and then you will have to go to the DVR menu to play the show and fast forward to where you left off.
hope that makes sense!

if you are recording a show---just select it in your DVR menu and play: "Watch from Beginning" and it will continue to record the program to the end, even while you watch the beginning. if you fast fwd thru the show and get to a point that at the point it is recording -- it will then automatically go to "LIVE" tv

My regular Tivo DVR doesn't do that. Is that a cablevision thing?
