My life always has to be hectic!
Hey ladies, so this morning I took an ovulation test and it came up positive but I'm only CD 8 and I just finished my clomid yesterday, WTH! So I called the office and they had me come in for bloodwork and sono and I'm just waiting now because their calling over to the other office where my doctor is to see what the plan is. I'm kind of upset because this is my first cycle and I'm overwhelmed by it all and anxious and there isn't even a doctor or nurse here to ask any questions too. The sono showed a bunch of follicles but the biggest ones were 17, 14, and 11. Aren't those small to ovulate? Could this have been a false positive due to the clomid?

They do sound on the small side for ovulation...Some of the girls on here have been talking about false positives on the new clear blue smiley tests. What kind did you use?

Re: My life always has to be hectic!
I used the clear blue but it's not the one that detects the 4 most fertile days its just the regular 2 day one.
ETA: what size follicles do they look for in order to do an IUI? I'm clueless...

Re: My life always has to be hectic!
I think 20ish is ready to pop? Maybe someone else would have some more insight.
My cycle this month went like this- 2 follicles around 15 mm were seen on sono on CD 9. I got my smiley on CD 14 and IUI was CD 15. Follicles grow 1-2 mm a day. So I assume mine were around 20 when I O'd.

Those follicles are on the smaller side for O. The BW should be able to tell your RE more about your O. GL

Re: My life always has to be hectic!
Clomid won't cause a false positive. You can get a +OPK and then O 36 hours later. So while this is early, I know you said on another post that you tend to O early, so it could be accurate. Also, 17mm is pretty close to being mature. My RE considered 18mm mature, so if you don't O for 36 hours, this could be mature.
Regardless, no need to feel overwhelmed. Once you're under the care of an RE you can pretty much just let go and follow what they tell you. If this is your first cycle on Clomid, it's usually a learning cycle where the RE figures out how you respond and can make a better protocol for next month, if this one doesn't work.

Re: My life always has to be hectic!
Thanks ladies your responses helped me!! The office just called me back and said that my blood work showed that I am not surging. She said I probably got a false positive. How can I get a false positive though? Anyway I have to go back in tomorrow morning for more blood work and sono and take it from there. Maybe we'll have IUI Christmas morning :)
NYCgirl80: I need to learn how to let go, that's my biggest problem! I always feel like I need to be playing a part in something but my issue is that I'm so neurotic and I end up making situations 10 times harder then what they need to be! This whole fertility thing is going to make me turn grey before I turn 29 that's all I know!

This is so true. Once you are under an RE's care, ttc is out of your control. I am am a control freak so I understand your frustration.

Re: My life always has to be hectic!
We've triggered once they were over 20 the two cycles we did. You probably have another day or two (or more depending on how your body reacts) before the 'trigger'

My life always has to be hectic!
I just had my sono this morning. I had 5 follicles but the bigger ones were 19 and 18. I did the trigger shot this morning bc there office is closed on Xmas so they wanted to make we didnt miss it. I also had a false positive on the opk last cycle. It was the clear blue easy advanced digital. I have had 6 iui's and never had a false positive until we used those new opk tests.

If you don't mind me asking which RE do you see? I go to LI IVF, I was under the impression that they would be open christmas day but now I'm wondering if their closed. Yea abt my false positive I've never had a false one before but then again I've never been monitored like I am now so I guess I wouldn't really know.

Wow that really sucks, they didn't even mention that to me. So now what if when I go there tomorrow morning my BW shows that I am surging. Basically this month would be a bust because I'd be Oing on Christmas Day. Or would they do an IUI tomorrow?

If your blood tomorrow shows you are starting to surge, they would probably have you trigger tomorrow night and IUI on Thursday morning.

By triggering tomorrow night will that make me ovulate on Wednesday? Or will it delay my ovulation? I thought that the trigger shot will make you ovulate anywhere from 12-36 hours? Is there a chance that by Thursday morning it could be too late? I'm hoping I just don't surge tomorrow lol, never thought I'd say that.

They always had me trigger the evening where I started to surge and IUI 36 hrs later. I never ovulated before IUI (they will check). You should be fine. Trust their scheduling.

Lol thanks! I know I have such trust issues for some reason. I always feel like I'll be that one exception that things got messed up for.
