Hemmroid surgery help please

This is embarrassing but while pregnant with my son I got this large external Hemmroid and it never went away. It was extremely painful. My Dr kept telling me to do something about it. Since we want to start ttc in a few months I decided to go to the specialist. She said it is only one external and she recommended having a hemmroidectomy. Now the surgery is around the corner I am reading horror stories. Does anyone have experience or knows someone who has had? Tia

Re: Hemmroid surgery help please

My dad had this done years ago. He said it was a simple procedure and hardly any pain afterwards. Hope you feel better soon. Hemorrhoids suck!

Re: Hemmroid surgery help please

Have the surgery. Especially before you get pregnant again.

The procedure is minor, and any discomfort you have is nothing compared to the daily pain of hemorrhoids.

You have to deal with plenty of other issues while pregnant. If this one is treatable, then take care of it now.

Hemmroid surgery help please

my dad had it done a million years ago.

according to what i remember, the worst part of it was the embarrassment when the nurse had to shave him. he said he put the pillow over his face and asked for a quick, painless death lol.

Re: Hemmroid surgery help please

I had a fissure which was sooooo painful i had to have a surgery to fix it. It was painful for me after surgery but a fissure is different since its a tear. I took pain pills but the recovery was fast and I am glad I went through with it. I hid my problem for a year because I was embarrassed and scared but I couldnt take crying in pain anymore so I did the surgery. Best thing I ever did for myself. Dont be scared and dont read anything online you will drive yourself crazy!Chat Icon

The dr. didn't recommend waiting until after you're done having kids?

I would definitely do it before ttc. You don't want this thing hurting you or bleeding while you are pregnant and uncomfortable enough to sit down.

I don't know from personal experience but I've heard that it is not a big deal or too much discomfort from those who have had it done.

Re: Hemmroid surgery help please

She is a colon and rectal specialist, voted one of the top Dr 's in the country actually. I decided I'm not ready to undergo that kind of surgery yet after reading such horror stories and we are going to try the banding which is much easier and less invasive. Plus I don't know if it will happen when I get pregnant next time as some stated above. Thanks for your advice.
