Anyone have sinus surgery?
We found out DH has to have sinus surgery. His nose is so badly filled with pollups he is barely getting any air in. They want to do one nostril first and then 3 months later do the other one. This way if they need to move his deivated septum, it's less stress doing 2 procedures instead of one. Can anyone recommend a really good doctor? We have also lost a 13 yr old family member when an artery was clipped and the packing removed too early. With how our year has gone, I can tell you I am nervous and really want a good doctor. Both my brother and sister had this done, but their doctor does not accept either of our insurances.

Re: Anyone have dual sinus surgery?
My Mom had this done a few years ago with Dr. Mazzarella at Huntington Hospital. He also fixed my nose after I broke it for the 5th time (long story). I'm not sure he is still there, its been a few years since my surgery - but he was very good and great bedside manner.
My Aunt and 2 friends are nurses at Huntington hospital and I can get recomendations from them if you need them. My Aunt is actually an OR nurse who specializes in assisting ear, nose and throat surgeries.

Re: Anyone have sinus surgery?
I would love it if you could get us a few recommendations! I also want DH to get a second opinion on the surgery to see if it needs to be done in 2 separate procedures or not

Re: Anyone have sinus surgery?
DH needs this and We are looking into Dr's. I had a broken nose repaired and it was HELL...so I would do as your doing and look for the best Dr. Possible. My packing had to come out early because I got the Flu and could barely breathe and when I sneezed it would start coming out and I feel I have issues now due to that.

Re: Anyone have sinus surgery?
I had sinus surgery in 2003. I had my septum corrected, my turbinates (sp?) shrunk and my maxillary sinuses opened - They also removed my polyps. The dr said he had NO idea how I could possibly be breathing thru my nose.
I used to get sinus infection over and over again - sometimes 10 or more in a year and headaches every day. I have never had an infection since the surgery and almost NEVER have sinus headaches now - it is a rare occurance.
I used a Dr. David R Edelstein - In NYC - he is affliated with Cornell and MEETH just to name two (he is chair of ENT at MEETH) - He specializes in endoscopic sinus sugery. I did a lot of research and I would recommend him. I know a few people including my DH who use him as an ENT over the years.
I know it might be a pain since he is in the city - but you can use him for the surgery and later find an ENT closer to you.
Check him out on this site - New York Dr Profile
