Re: Another teacher issue

I have seen this happen before. The school and dismissal people should be held responsible. As for the bus driver - at our bus stop if someone comes off the bus we (the parents) have an unspoken policy to take the child and tell the bus bus driver he can leave (sometimes they aren't physically at the bus stop yet or on occasion had miscommunication with which parent or grandparent was picking up child, lost track of time, etc.). Our bus driver will not leave or let the kids off the bus unless there is someone there for them. I def think there needs to be a better organized system!

I would be out of my mind! Definitely at teacher, but honestly, the bus driver should get in trouble for that.

Another teacher issue

If you don't feel comfortable with the principals response call the superintendents office. We had safety concerns within the class and had a call back the next day and the issue was resolved.

Re: Another teacher issue

I'm sorry, but I think the principal is an ass and I'm still fuming over your thread.

I work with disabled ADULTS, some who are pretty independent, and I have heard of people getting fired for stuff like this, and I know of at least one lawsuit over an ambulette company because something happened when the driver left the pt alone. Again, these are adults. But a child?

DS is only in Pre-K & DH and I are planning to join the PTA next year...........is this something that can be discussed in that kind of forum?

With all that is going on in the news right now, yes, I would be pretty concerned with the "what ifs".

You can never ever be too careful.

It is outrageous that something like that could happen to a child. You did the right thing when you spoke to the principal. I would also write a letter to the school to have the incident documented.

What really upsets me is that bus driver could drop your child off without you being there. Do you know what your  school’s policy is on drop offs? Does a parents or another authorized person has to be there to take the child? Did you fill out a form in the beginning of the school year listing the names of the people who can take your child off the  bus? I would find out the bus company policy and speak to their supervisor. This should have never happened.

Another teacher issue

Not an acceptable response, IMO

My oldest DD is kindy. I would be IRATE at this. This was a breakdown on MULTIPLE levels, starting with the teacher. And to deflect the blame and place it onto a 5/6year old for "wandering" is even worse. How about "I am so sorry this happened, I'll make certain this doesn't happen again"? Because, regardless of whether or not he "wandered" is irrelevant. They are responsible to make sure he goes to the right place. The principal's response was also inadequate. Go up the chain.
