Re: scared of lovenox
It's totally normal to be scared, I was scared as well and didn't know what to expect. But it barely hurts - in the beginning, you'll feel a tiny burn but it goes away fairly quickly. The hardest thing for me was to get used to injecting myself - but you also get used to that and could have your DH do it in the beginning for you. You might also end up with bruising, but also normal and you just get used to it. I had a lot of bruising in the beginning until like last week because sometimes I would hit a blood line, etc., and it got super bruised up. But all is okay because I know it's what I need to keep the baby healthy.
Don't be afraid, lots of people on this board take it and are totally okay. You'd have to take Lovenox until you give birth (I've heard you stop a few days before) and some even take it after giving birth for a few weeks.
Any questions - let me know

the anticipation is so much worse... literally for everything you ever experience in your life the anticipation will be worse.
The first time i gave myself an injection i didnt feel a thing.
Sometimes i felt it some times i didnt, eventually you will find your sweet spot where you probably dont feel anything... you may or may not bruse (that was a total crapshoot for me, it was so random)
Just go very very very slow with the injection. I would even stop injecting if i felt it burn.

Re: scared of lovenox
I was on Lovenox twice for about 14 days each time. It was not that bad in all honesty - it would burn a little when I did the injections, but nothing too bad. I never really bruised for it (although I know others did).

Re: scared of lovenox
I bruised up quite miserably but it only burns for a second. I only had to use it once a day with my successful pregnancy (previously used it twice a day) and it's really not bad once you get used to it!

This exactly. My side looks like I've been in a fight, but that reassures me it's working lol. Only other side effect is that you have to be careful about getting a cut, etc. bc you won't clot as fast.

scared of lovenox
I was on a VERY high dose during my pregnancy since I had 3 clots. I rarely had bruising. I was surprised since it was such a high dose but everyone is different. I got used to it. I traveled with my needles and went to events so I got good at injecting in bathrooms and other locations. IMO the quicker you do it the better you are. Anytime I thought about it too much it would hurt more.

It's not that bad. I only bruised once when DH hit a vein but I was told that is rare, just pinch and go, then rub

Re: scared of lovenox
You just prick yourself with the needle? How big is the needle?

Re: scared of lovenox
Not big... It's really the med in the needle that stings. The needle itself is a small gauge. Once you get used to it you'll be fine. It's not intramuscular or anything.
