internal search
I work for a very large organization, however lately I am unable to get out of the office to network (changes in my dept keep me at my desk a lot).
I see some job openings in departments where I don't know anyone. I can go online and apply that way but I would like to contact the manager directly. I can look up the hiring managers email address in our Outlook address book.
Would you send your resume by your work email to them?
Or, use my personal email and send to their work email?
Or, find them on Linked In and send a message? I don't know how to attach a resume on LI though.

I would apply online through the traditional channel, and then send them a follow up email from your internal work email but off hours, like before your day starts at 8am. I would say you already applied and attach your resume and express further interest in the position. I work for a large organization as well, and that is the way it works here

Re: internal search
Internal I would send an e-mail from my work address. If you don't want it to look bad do first thing in the a.m. or at lunch time or after 5.
