How many IUIs did you have before you....
gave up? I'm a little confused about this process....I did my 6th IUI this month and I think we got another BFP but I just know its not gonna stick as I have been spotting red since 8 dpo and it has just continued (I will get another beta result tomorrow) and my tests are still pos at 15dpo but I can just feel something isn't right.....
I know how I should be seeing a RE instead of my GYN and we are saving right now and going to use our tax refund to see Dr Zapantis hopefully in April - but my question is if I can get pregnant with IUI is it ok to keep trying them (as they are less invasive and less expensive) or will a RE only allow a certain number before they push to IVF? I don't know why but I am so scared of the whole IVF thing but I know at my age I have to make decisions -
ANother question if you have insurance that the RE does not take - will they still run things like your blood work through insurance?
So bummed - but maybe ill be wrong and this one will stick

How many IUIs did you have before you....
I was seeing an re from the beginning, didn't bother with an obgyn. I did 2 iuis medicated before moving on to 2 iuis with injectables. Nothing worked so it was time to move onto Ivf. I think every situation. Is diff including financial, age, factors, etc etc

Re: How many IUIs did you have before you....
Have you gone for recurrent loss testing? If you are having chemicals then iui are getting you pregnant they just aren't sticking for some reason. Could be low progesterone, clotting issues, immune issues, egg quality, etc --- all things IVF wouldn't really change v iui. I would make sure to cover all bases before moving on, getting and staying pregnant are very different. Unfortunately I have lots of personal experience with the distinction
Edit: I can get pregnant on my own but have had 3 losses last year. I initially looked into REs but ended up seeing a aggressive perinatologist instead because my problem is not getting pregnant it is staying pregnant and I thought it was a better fit for me, plus I was able to get in way sooner. I am seeing dr kofinas
Edit2: I have no infertility coverage and kofinas is out of network for me but my visits and a lot of testing have fallen under repeat pregnant loss and have been covered by insurance. Also I was told bloodwork is in network based on where you go (ie quest labcorp) and not based on who prescribes it (in or out of network dr) which has proven to be true for me. Same with meds. So only my kofinas visits are out of network and he charges a copay not coinsurance once you hit your deductible

Re: How many IUIs did you have before you....
Thank you for that info....so I have had some immune testing done...(my ob/gyn works closely with Dr K - so he mentioned similar tests - all my Bld wrk was normal thyroid, immune, day 3 testing was really good for my age - I think my AMH came back low ish but not a surprise for my age ....is there any testing they can do for Egg quality besides FSH/amh?
This cycle my 12dpo beta and progesterone were 22.50 B / 93.1 P so even though I have been on supplements my progesterone was good ....yet I startd spotting on 8dpo and haven't stopped so im thinking my next Beta will be low......
What Dr did you go to for the immune testing? I have no out of network coverage - so I guess id be all oop with Kofinas....Thanks again to both of you

Re: How many IUIs did you have before you....
My first time around I did two clomid cycles at my obgyn with trying on our own. We then moved to RSNY and took a month off from drugs. We upped my clomid and did IUI and got pregnant with twins.
This time around we did three IUIs and I am stimming for my 4th right now. Dr Stelling said we would do #4 because it has worked for me in the past but otherwise they don't really advise more than three in my situation. If this IUI doesn't work we are moving to IVF since my problem isn't producing eggs (I get plenty!). They are afraid if I stim with injectables and do IUI I might end of with higher order multiples.
To answer your question- If I wanted to continuously do IUIs, I dont think the RE office would stop me. It is a matter of how you are feeling about the process/what you can afford. I know there are women on here who are on IUI 10 or 12, etc. Find an RE that will work with your wishes.

I did all of my testing with kofinas. But if you have no OON that can get expensive. I didn't have OON last year but I switched insurance this year and now I do. I believe SIRM and dr braverman also do similar immune panels.
I wouldn't give up yet - people bleed for many reasons and a big one is usually low progresterone but your progesterone isn't low. With my chemicals my progesterone was always very low. Maybe it's a sch or something else? You will have a better idea after your second beta comes back. I hope it's a good one ((hugs))

How many IUIs did you have before you....
Sorry you are going through this.
I did 6 IUIs before moving to IVF. GHI requires 6 IUIs before IVF. Everything always looked great during IUIs but I never got a BFP from any of them. I also went to Dr. Z and he thought I should move on from IUIs bc I always got BFN. For you since you get BFP he may let you do more IUIs. Eventually if they aren't working go to IVF. I was scared too about IVF but you just get over it and do what needs to be done.

Re: How many IUIs did you have before you....
I did 4 IUI before IVF.
eta since you are in fact getting pregnant maybe you should see Dr. Kofinas to see why you are miscarrying. Hang in there!

Re: How many IUIs did you have before you....
I've done 6 cycles, 5 IUIs (first cycle was cancelled due to no response to clomid). Currently on a break while we save for IVF. My RE will not let me do anymore, since we are also dealing with MFI
Eta- praying for a good beta for you tomorrow

Re: How many IUIs did you have before you....
Ivf is not only therapeutic but also diagnostic. Many problems with egg quality, chromosomal issues, etc. are diagnosed through the help of Ivf. To answer your question, I did 6 iui cycles before moving on.

I'd really recommend seeing an RE before you consider giving up on IUIs and before you consider IVF. There may be steps your OB missed along the way...
