getting makeup done at MAC

has anyone ever gotten their makeup done at the MAC counter?

if so, how does it work? do you have to buy products? how was your experience?

thanks!

I have gotten my makeup done there several times. You have to buy $50 worth of products. To me that's great because your getting your makeup done AND getting products for $50. If you went to a salon you wouldn't be getting the extra products, just paying for the service

Yes, all the time. You have to buy $50 worth of products. IMO, Id be spending the money to have my makeup done anyway, but at least this way, I have something to show for it after I wash my face at night.

how long does a full face of makeup usually take? i think i'm gonna be cutting it kinda close with a 4:30 pm appointment and a 7 pm wedding reception in glen cove.

Re: getting makeup done at MAC

what day of the week are you going?

will you be leaving straight from Macys??

Mel is a lil on the slower side. ive had some girls do my make up in 30 min, others take over an hour..

it also depends how busy they are and how many people are on staff.

if theres a ton of women getting their make up done AND the store is packed, the make up artists have to stop and help customers while applying your make up..

if you're leaving straight from macys ( changing in a fitting room or bathroom in the store) and the wedding is at 7... leave 6:30.. you should be fine. if your appt is at 4:30--say they are busy and start u at 5......finish at 6.. by the time you pick out your products and pay and change.. u should be ok..

if youre going home after macys..then def make an earlier appointment. not sure how far you are.. so use your judgement on that.

saturday, lol Chat Icon

ideally, i'd like to go home after my makeup appointment, change and go from there, but i'm starting to think i might have to change in the bathroom or fitting room.

the reason i couldn't make an earlier appointment is b/c i have the church ceremony from 3 - 4.

ugh, this is gonna be fun, lol.

Then I guess it's just manhassett , flushing, and Nordstrom in Roosevelt field with the 5 product minimum. I'm getting jipped!

Good info! I've never had makeup done at a counter, very intimidating for me because i know nothing about makeup. Throwing eyeliner on is a major accomplishment for me. Maybe i'll give them a try.

Im afraid i'll end up looking clowinshChat Icon

I tell whoever is doing my mak up that I trust them to do whatever they think will look best and not to make me look like a drag queen. U can always peek in the mirror and make sure they aren't going crazy.
