Hair dying, glazing???Please help.

So I have never dyed my hair. I have never done anything with my hair beyond having it cut. I feel like my hair is dull and I have a couple of long grey hairs that are sort of under the top of my hair. I made an appointment with my stylist but I have no idea what to ask for. Basically, I want to bring the shine/life back to my hair and I want to cover the grey hairs. How often will I need to go to the stylist from now on? Please share any and all hair knowledge to this clueless hair dye virgin. Thanks so much. What am I supposed to ask for? How much should these things cost? I also have some allergies, latex, avocado, kiwi and banana. Will that matter?

sounds like you want a single process with a glaze. :) just say you want to match your hair color (unless you want a different color). how often you go depends on how fast your hair grows. my hair grows slow and i go once every 3 months. tell her about your allergies.
