Nursery colors...
it's easier to repaint than to recarpet- i would go more neutral on the carpets.

If you go pink carpet, go with a pale pink - but know that it will likely stain easily. I grew up with a pink carpet, I loved my pink carpet, but it stained very easily... and I was very girly (I was already 7 when I picked out my carpet), my brother had a pale blue carpet.

this. you can always put an area rug over the neutral rug at some point if you/your kid wants more color on the carpet.

I did grey carpet in both DC's rooms (DD and DS). DD's room is currently pink walls, and DS's room has blue walls, but if they want to change it to any other color, the grey carpet will still coordinate.
