Re: Child birth classes

I will probably skip the child birth class and watch a dvd.
I do want to take a class on child care though. Has anyone does one and was it useful? I have no experience with babies and know nothing.
I didn't but I did get info on local classes from my OB so that would probably be a good place to ask. DH had never changed a diaper before we had DD but he changed all of them in the hospital. The nurse and LC showed him how and he ended up showing me what to do once we got home (I had changed plenty but never a newborn). We also had to sit through a basic childcare class in the hospital (Stonybrook) after we were discharged and that was helpful.

I also knew nothing. My dh never had even held a baby, but we picked up on it instantly. It's so weird when it's your baby how naturally it just comes.
This. Or the nurse in the hospital can show you and go over a few things.

We took the Winthrop child care class. I would say it's better than nothing, but not very good. DH didn't come out of it with any confidence in changing diapers, but he did pick up swaddling from it.

Re: Child birth classes
I didn't take any. We only did the hospital tour. My biggest worry is breastfeeding and luckily, my insurance covers home visits with a lactation specialist after birth so if anything I will utilize that when the time comes.
DH gets certified CPR training at his job, so I will just have him teach me the technique for babies. Everything else, we're planning to wing it.

Re: Child birth classes
DH and I went on a hospital tour and prior to the tour, there was a mini-class where we watched a video of several different women giving birth. They discussed the different stages of labor but that was pretty much it. We weren't given any breathing techniques or anything. I gave birth without an epi and my midwife/nurses guided me through it.

Child birth classes
Jess let me know what you decide to do/take. I want to take the CPR and some type of childbirth class. My friend took the Bradley Method Classes- which talks about natural childbirth. It was her plan to have a natural childbirth. I would like to say I would go med free but who knows what is gonna happen and how bad the pain will be. She did really like the classes and recommends them.

I didnt take any class and I dont regret it. My friend gave me the advice that if you plan to have an epi bradley is useless, I planned to so didnt bother. My labor went great, won't be taking one this time around either.
Ditto. My childbirth experience was- give me that epi the second I can have it! Then when it came time to push the nurse asked if I took a class. I said no. She goes, OK, this is how you push And explained it in 2 minutes. And I pushed DD out in less than an hour. It wasn't rocket science
All of this.
