Hi Ladies,
Is anyone familiar with the ca-125 test? The Dr. wants a repeat test done in 1 month since the numbers did not look good. But now all thoughts of ovarian cancer and endometreosis are going on...any words of advice would be much appreciated.
thank you

I had the CA-125 test done years ago when the doctors finally realized that I probably had endo. As I recall, the test measures inflammation, but it can't give a definitive diagnosis. My number was elevated, but the doctor said he couldn't give a diagnosis as to why based on that test alone. It's just used as a marker.

As it turns out, I did have very severe endo. Are you having symptoms of endo?

I looked up the endo symptoms and do not really have many of them. Yes, painful periods but nothing Motrin doesnt help with...

Did the doctor say why he ordered the CA-125? Was it just part of a routine physical or is he trying to rule something out? Did the doctor say something about endo or cancer, or are you concerned because of googling what the CA-125 is used for?

I know it's easier said than done, but if the doctor isn't overly concerned, try not to worry too much. From what I've seen with other people, if they are actually concerned about cancer, they don't wait a month to see if the test numbers improve. So, hopefully, that's a good sign for you!

I hope that everything turns out to be okay and that you just got a wonky test result!!

Thank you, you are prob right and google made me crazy! The dr gave an option to come next week for a laparoscopic surgery OR to wait a month to see if the numbers changed. I will stay off google
