Dr. James stelling, reproductive specialists?
Just wondering if anyone has used him and if so can you give some info? Do you like him? Does he have a good "bedside manner?". She has an appt. sceduled for a consultation and is looking for some info about him. My daughter went to dr. Braverman for unmedicated IUIs and she conceived my granddaughter on the second cycle. This was 4 years ago. Unfortunately he doesn't take her insurance any more. She loved dr. Braverman and would have used him again. Thanks.

Dr. James stelling, reproductive specialists?
Hey joan! I am new here and saw your post about dr stelling. I have been going to RS of NY for the last 6 months and have seen dr stelling about 3-4 times and he's great!!! I'm sad bc I usually go to west Islip and it just so happens that my monitoring always falls on a day where he is not there so I have been seeing dr halfin a lot. He's also very nice but unfortunately i haven't had any success in 6 months. I would just recommend to make sure your daughter is her own activist. Like for example I was on clomid for 5 cycles and was gonna do another until I suggested Femara bc clomid thinned my lining but to me they should've recommended it not me. I'm actually having a consult appt with Long Island ivf with dr Joseph Pena on Thursday and will maybe switch to him! Good luck to your daughter!!

Dr Braverman is amazing! I went to him from DR. STelling and TRivax. It is way different but STelling talks insanely fast and that bothered me but he is head of their PGD department so..I did try and write things down lol. If she is looking at doctors I suggest trivax he didn't get me pregnant but he is nice calming and tries to explain everything. The nurses do most of the work there. If she had intra lipids or Lovenox they do not believe in it there just an FYI.

I love Dr. Stelling. He talks very fast but he knows a lot and was great before and after my IVF transfer. Edited to say he also did two of my IUI's and was fantastic. I am generally very nervous with procedures and he calmed me and was very positive when things looked grim for us.

Re: Dr. James stelling, reproductive specialists?
I am also a Dr. Stelling fan. He is informative and aggressive with treatment; and speaking as someone who does not have any infertility coverage at all, this was key to me to move on and not waste time and money if something did not work the first few times. He is also very compassionate and always tries to show you the positive side of things when something may not go according to plan.
However, with that said, I have done several cycles at this center under his care, and have yet to have a successful pregnancy. There can be several different reasons why IUIs do not work for me, but one thing that rubbed me the wrong way, was that I was never given an HSG prior to beginning treatment- this test is often one of the first tests done before any fertility drugs. I had to call up the nurse at the WI office and ask her to give me a prescription for one after the 4th failed IUI. Luckily everything was clear, but I would have raised hell if it turned out that something was wrong and this wasn't addressed when I began with them back in 2012.

Dr. Stelling is definitely not for everyone - he can come across flippant, speaks way to fast, mumbles and seriously lacks emotional intelligence. He has made some poor comments to me when each cycle failed. It's like he is uncomfortable or something. After many IUI and IVF cycles, I would not recommend him.

hoping2013 I have never met Dr Stelling, but feel that way many times about Dr Trivax, he can be flippant and makes comments I don't find funny. I wonder sometimes if he is uncomfortabe The females in the practice are the opposite and I have found Dr. Sung very straight forward and you know where you stand with her.

Everyone has an opinion with Rs of NY. I couldn't stand Dr. Sung- straightforward or not, she was a cold fish who was very abrupt with me for no reason. Liked Trivax who was my main dr but felt he didn't do enough for me- it's very busy in that office and you can get lost in the shuffle. You need to be proactive and your own advocate at that practice.

I loved Dr. Stelling! He is so intelligent and will take the time to explain everything/ answer all your questions! He helped us make the decision to move onto IVF and we are currently pregnant with twins from the 1st round.
I also worked a lot for Dr. Halfen and really liked him as well.

Dr. James stelling, reproductive specialists?
I walked out of my visit with Dr Halfen,I disliked him right away. I spent the last week crying, my insurance wont cover a lot of things, Sung was to call the insurance company as of last week to help advocate, so far she has not, I feel like no one has done a thing to help me. Trivax was suppose to step in, he promised to help, days later and many phone calls he has not called me back. I don't know if he just doesn't care, is it me, is it the practice. I am very frustrated and want to give up. sorry b/c now Im venting.

Trivax has very little say unfortunately which is why I left. Sung misdiagnosed my water sono. She said everything was fine when it wasn't. But many have had success with both of them. You have to go with your gut and advocate fir yourself bc no one there will.

Re: Dr. James stelling, reproductive specialists?
I had 3 failed FET's with Stelling. My embryos were genetically tested and found to be normal. When I asked for an explanation, he said, "Sometimes there is no reason."
That was not good enough for me.
I went to Dr. Kofinas, who soon diagnosed me with a blood clotting disorder that absolutely impacted implantation.
RS of NY has caring nurses that I really liked. However, the care from the drs is very cookie cutter. I didn't fit the mold, so I wasn't getting the care I needed.

VERY cookie cutter and I don't match the mold either. I have too many medical conditions not all fertility related and I always feel unsure, with the care. Sometimes it feels as if they like to talk a lot but are saying nothing. But I am too afraid to change and move everything I have in storage

Do NOT be afraid to change. After our second failed IVF we met with Trivax and his answer was at least you have insurance and can try a few more times. Not right answer!! So let me blow through my insurance money with you and not see any change? My normally patient SO was not happy with him last meeting so I took a action.
I immediately requested my records, moved to RMA and transferred my frozen embryos from RS to RMA. I am so much happier and am so glad I got over my fear!! You can do it. :)

stay away from RSNY, i wouldn't wish that place on my worst enemy.......you may get pregnant there if you are a "classic case" anything deeper they don't bother digging.

Btw I was afraid to change because one of the REs there is a close family friend. But they don't believe in immunology testing and protocal which I felt in my heart I needed so I switches. If you feel it isn't right move on..... It was my best decision!

I don't think I have time to change, My next cycle starts in a few weeks and I have one shot at a FET if that does not work, I have nothing left. That's if everything survives the thaw if not I'm really out. At my age IUI is not an option.

Put off the cycle until you change. It doesn't take that long if you start now. Make an appt, request records, That's what I did. Embryology dept is the key. My embryos made it farther with this new RE lab than last one. If you're not happy and this is your last shot, do it! I do not have age on my side either- I'm turning 41 in September...,,
