 I am so sorry. Some people are insensitive, especially the older ones. There are a lot of kind and gentle or zinger smart as answers you can give. People need it spelled out: It is nEVER ok to ask this question!

Ugh, I'm sorry that happened, what a way to put a damper on the day. Next time, I would come back saying "Believe me, it's not as easy as you think", or flat out tell them it's none of their business. Sometimes people need to be put in their place.

Ask them if they get a bikini wax and when the look of shock comes over their face say, "what, you don't like personal questions? Well neither do I".
People are ignorant when it comes to IF.

That's awesome! If I don't feel like answering directly, I'll look them square in the eye and ask them what makes them think that's any of their business. That generally stops the conversation.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that. It's never easy.

I am so sorry. I think it's human nature to just blurt that out after a couple has been married for a certain amount of time. I don't think many people realize that there is a reason "why" people who want to have babies don't have them. Infertility is not something many people are open about or want to discuss. Unfortunately I am not good with quick responses to a question like that. I usually say "when we are ready." Hugs to you!!!
