I shop at Kohls a lot and tend to get great deals, but only bc they have good clearance and they let you combine the 30% off coupon if you have one. Otherwise, I don't even bother with their non-sale items bc I do think they are way overpriced.
Another policy I just found out that they changed is if you return something that you had earned Kohls cash on, they now deduct the value of the kohls cash from your return. It used to be that they would just give you store credit for the whole amount so you technically don't lose the kohls cash.
But what if you never used the kohls cash? Then they are just taking your money 
They've never done that for my returns. You lose the Kohls cash value but you get your full price paid for what you bought. They can't dock your return amount for Kohls cash value that you might never haven even used.
I usually do great at Kohls. Their clothes suck but I love their housewares, shoes, etc. I have found if you don't shop when you can redeem Kohls cash you can make out like a bandit between the sale and a 30% off coupon. I always double check amazon or other stores from my phone when I'm there to make sure I'm getting a good deal and more often than not, I am.
The prices when Kohls cash can be redeemed totally suck and are overpriced. I usually will just buy something to use up the Kohls cash but I don't spend above that.

I always do really well at kohls. EVERY store marks up their items when they are having a big sale. You just have to know your pricing when you go. Do I think a t-shirt is normally $34.99? No, it's the $19.99 it's marked down to now - but with that 30% off coupon, it works well. I bargain shop my clothes and Kohls is a winner for me almost all the time. Especially sundresses, Bras, kids clothes (for gifts) flip flops and I've gotten some great sneakers & boots there.
