Getting Professional Cert granted with just Subbing
Has anyone gotten granted their Prof Cert with just subbing days? I know it's 540 sub days that's equal to 3 years teaching according to the state.
How did you go about upgrading the cert? What was the process? Who verified the sub days?
I'm asking for someone.
Any insight is helpful.

Re: Getting Professional Cert granted with just Subbing
I had a permanent job when I applied for mine but I had not been there for 3 years, so I needed maybe 40 or 50 sub days to qualify for my professional.
She should apply online just like she would if she were teaching - it's just the documentation itself that will be different.
Your friend will need letters from HR stating how many full days she subbed and over what time period. I don't believe my letters (I subbed in a few different districts!) said much of anything else.
If she calls HR at the schools she subbed at, they should know what to do when she tells them what she needs.
Tell her to go through her local BOCES for her application. It was one of the best pieces of advice I ever got on here. They talk you through everything and an actual human is always there to speak to during business hours unlike calling Albany. She should really speak to them especially since she doesn't have actual teaching experience.
