c-section and infertility
Anyone in the group have a previous c-section and trouble conceiving their second child? We have male factor infertility but it isn’t horrible. Today at my day 2 sono I have 4 follicle/cysts from last month (meanwhile only had one mature follicle to do iui). Dr. Wang is waiting on blood work but he thinks there’s a possibility I have scar tissue around my ovaries which is keeping me from releasing my eggs to be fertilized. There’s a procedure to confirm this but I’d have to be put under for 2 or more hours while they go in and check. He said IVF is a much better option.

Maybe I don't entirely follow your post, but how could you have scar tissue on your ovaries from a c-section? For a c-section, they don't cut your ovaries.

Scar tissue can grow all over the place, not just on the area that was cut into. I have scar tissue on my back from gallbladder surgery!

He might be talking about a laparotomy, where they go in and remove the scar tissue. IVF would be much less invasive and you only need IV sedation for it.

c-section and infertility
I've had two surgeries for endo. Both of those surgeries involved my ovaries. If your ovaries are functioning well, I'd be reluctant to agree to any kind of surgery on them. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thanks everyone! We'll never know for certain if scar tissue is playing a role in our infertility because I wouldn't do the surgery, I'd just go to ivf if my last iui doesn't work.
I found this online "Pelvic adhesions are abnormal bands of scar tissue that may form after surgery, including C-sections, and bind tissues or organs that are usually not connected."
I just found it interusting. About 20 months of TTC and this is the first I hear of it. Maybe it can help someone else :)

Re: c-section and infertility
No c-section because I haven't had a kid yet, but I had a myomectomy, where you are cut into like a c-section, only instead of a baby I gave birth to a mass the size of a grapefruit.
But they thought I may have scar-tissue and that IVF may work better for me, but we did the required 4 IUIs, with no success.
But he also did a D&C before IVF, which could help with that as well.
Either way, I am not 7.5 weeks along after my FET.

c-section and infertility
I had a csection with my first son (we conceived through FET) and yes now I am having issues with cysts, no scar tissue thankfully, I was checked for that before we attempted to start. You wont be able to start a cycle of IVF though with the cysts there. That is what I've been told by the drs, because the cyst can affect the growing follicles around it. So cysts need to be gone before you can do IVF...good luck!
