Upset already...

I haven't even started the IVF process yet....I had to email the nurse in charge of IVF and from there she would assign me my own nurse. So, when I was going through my IUI's I had really made a great relationship with one of the nurses at LI IVF and she even told me that when I begin the IVF process to tell my doctor that she is requesting to be my IVF nurse. So, when I wrote the email to the charge nurse I had included that in there and she just emailed me back and the letter starts like this...."Jessica will you your IVF nurse"... completed disregarded my requested, she didn't even acklowledge it and say something like unfortanately at this time I was unable to grant your request because... or something lilke that, it was just like she never saw that part. I'm very upset and I even started to cry when I read the email because I really was hoping to get the other nurse. We just had such a great rapport with one another and I found such comfort and support in her and I am one who is anxious about everything so it was very nice to have someone that I felt so comfortable with. It just wouldve made this hard experience a little more easier. I called the office to speak with the other nurse so I'm hoping this can get changed. Has anyone ever dealt with something like this before? I go to LI IVF.

U really don't do much w the nurse assigned to you. She mostly orders meds. I see/ interact more with other nurses than my own. I wouldn't stress too much.

At NSLIJ you deal with all the IVF nurses, I don't even think there is a single nurse in charge of my case. But I like them all and they are all helpful. I am sure it will be fine.

I'm sorry that you are upset, but as the previous poster stated, your assigned nurse does very little for you at LIIVF other than place your meds order and make your calendar (which ultimately gets approved by your doctor). If this is something that's really important to you, then push to get your nurse changed, but in the grand scheme of things, its really not a huge issue. I became much friendlier with the nurses who drew my blood and the sonogram techs/nurse practitioners than my IVF nurse!

Just as a side note -- Jessica is great -- very knowledgeable and has her stuff together -- she's not as warm and fuzzy as some of the other nurses, but she will do everything that needs to be done for you at the time it needs to happen!

Sorry that you are upset over this but all my "assigned" nurse does is call with the results of blood work and/or ultrasounds and puts in my order for meds. On any given day during a cycle when I have to to in I speak to whoever is there that day, not who I am assigned to. I haven't found it to be problematic but if it's a big deal to you, call and see if they can reassign you.

Aww hun don't be upset! I would email them and see if you could switch your nurse if you really want a certain one! I also go to li ivf and am gonna start the ivf process! I am pretty close with this one nurse Karen and she said to ask them to have her as my nurse! But like others have said it seems like you talk to whoever is their the day you go in for monitoring and stuff like that. I'm 12 dpiui and tested negative today so I go Wednesday for my beta then if I'm not preggo which I don't think I am then I will starting the bc pills! Good luck to you!

I'm sorry you are upset. I don't go to LI IVF, but the nurses at my RE office really doesn't worry me it's the doctor doing my transfer I'm more concern with. The nurses there just order the meds and tells you when to come back the doctor (my main doc) is the only one I want transferring my embryos and I want to be comfortable with.

I go to LIIVF and my nurse was just assigned to me as well. I don't think you need to worry about that too much. Like others have said you don't really have much interaction with them.

If you are really upset over it, I would send another email or call to see if you could get assigned the nurse you requested.
Like the PP said Jessica is not warm & fuzzy but she knows her stuff.

Thanks Ladies... I actually ended up calling the nurse that I wanted (Sharon) and spoke to her directly, she was amazing and told me not to stress it and she emailed the charge nurse herslef and got it all taken care of. So now I'm with Sharon!! I just feel more comfortable especially because I do see her a lof of mornings for monitoring and she does my ultrasounds, plus I just adore her and she makes me feel so comfortable.

This is why I love Sharon! She is my favorite! Glad she was able to get it switched for you. I specifically requested Sharon as well so I can understand why you were upset. Glad it all worked out!
