So how are the new middle schoolers adjusting?

DS started MS Tuesday. Lots of anxiety over lockers, which books to bring when, what to bring home etc. Not a care in the world about who to sit with at lunch. He calmed down by yesterday and I think he is off to great start for the year.

My son has done great too. Nervous the first day and took a few days to get his locker working but seems quite happy with the new routine.

We are in NYC schools so DD started Thursday and has no locker. She went home with her dad on Friday for the weekend and said she has one assignment due Monday.

First day of school I spent 2 hours with her filling out paper work. Each subject teacher (5) sent home what resembled a high school or college syllabus that had to be signed by both of us. We also had to get supplies for each class.

DD Cried 2 days in a row because of feeling overwhelmed and anxious. But she also was smiling when she came home. I will post a happy update hopefully soon!

Besides late bus (after football prac) fiasco my son is doing fine..no complaints. He definitely has a lot on his mind w all the classes, lockers, books, assignments ect and football.

My middle schooler did better than expected. Today he had a bit of a meltdown over having to change in the locker room in front of the other kids. I told him to use the stall, hopefully there is not a line.
