Also; not sure how much time you're talking about but i would see is there any option to take some of that unpaid time later in the year? Like when LO is bigger? I loved being home 3 months; but once DS hit 6months he was doing SO much and I felt like I was missing out!! That's when it killed me the most to be back at work.
I wish! I would come back in Feb and then take my unpaid time off for the summer but unfortunately I need to take it consecutively.

Maternity leave
I received 12 weeks, 6 of which were unpaid and I took them all.
I actually wished they offered more - I would have taken them unpaid and just cut back on expenses for that extra time with DC.

Maternity leave
I get 6 weeks paid and can use unpaid PTO which will be another maybe 2 weeks. I can take an additional 6 weeks unpaid but we can't afford it. Going to try to work from home for a but too hopefully that will work out.

I am taking the 6 weeks disability leave and then the additional time under FMLA for a total of about 12 weeks. I will use about a months worth of vacation pay, so I won't get a pay check for about two months, but I am going to make it work because I will never get to do this again....

I was laid off at 8 months pregnant so I got an unplanned, unpaid extended maternity leave. I was home with DS for 6 months and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Take the additional time if you can swing it financially.

I think I got 12 weeks paid and took an additional 8 or 9 weeks unpaid. It was perfect.
I would have been a sleepless disaster if I had to go back much earlier.
